Did I finally finish Sumire's bio? I THINK SO. for now at least >_> FULL VIEW THE REF FOR FULL SIZE. ------------------------------------------------------------ __________ | Basics | __________ Birthname: Yoshida Yichio Chosen Name: Sumire Age: 17-22 (as her storyline progresses) Birthday: --- Ethnicity: Japanese Birthplace: Omi, Japan Height: 5"5ish Eye Colour: Violet Hair Colour: Black, hints of blonde around her bangs __________ | Family | __________ Pairing: Chosokabe Nobuchika Mother: Yoshida Kikyou Father: Yoshida Yuzuru Siblings: Otani/Sanada Akihime, Yoshida Rindou Children: None; Sumire is barren Other Relatives: n/a __________ | Persona | __________ Personality: Sumire's true personality is hard to peg down. To some people, she is a strong-willed and polite woman; to others, she is a strong-willed, arrogant, and bossy character. She is fairly well known for her job as the bodyguard of the Mori clan, a job which she takes very seriously to the point loyalty overrides her personality and/or better judgement, and will not hesitate to kill when ordered. However, under this bossy, almost arrogant bodyguard of an exterior lies an ordinary woman who only wishes for just a moment's peace. In fact, Sumire does indeed hate to kill (even though she will do so if told to), and she can be seen praying for the dead at the end of a battle. It's difficult to determine whether she is dominant or submissive in nature. To those she is unfamiliar with, Sumire can act one of two ways. One, she simply ignores them. Two, she's almost hostile towards them and is quick to establish herself as the one in charge of whatever situation. If the person in question is of higher authority, she tends to do the former. To those she has warmed up to (or was already), she still tends to exhibit a semi-cold and cynical nature - not one to strike up conversation. To compensate for this, she has her own ways of looking out for people. Sumire holds few people dear, but they're always, somehow, aware of it despite of Sumire's different little ways of showing it. But, there is the odd case where Sumire's behaviour can be hard to discern. Her younger sister, Akihime, had adopted herself into the Otani and further drove a wedge through by defecting to the Takeda army under Sanada Yukimura. Making sense of Sumire's thoughts towards her sister can be near impossible, since her behaviour has a tendency to change with each time they encounter each other. There are times where she is completely hostile towards her, other times where she is almost merciful and simply tells her to leave. It is generally agreed on that Sumire is the better fighter between herself and her sister, although she doesn't really care for the comparison, finding it quite irrelevant in the big picture of things. In truth, she holds a certain respect for her sister, and is in fact jealous of her. The way Sumire sees it, she herself has no place in a peaceful Japan since she is barren whereas Suoko is not, which is where her jealousy roots. To her, she has fulfilled her purpose now that the warring states had ended, and she is simply there with nothing to look forward to - though she isn't likely to admit it. Sumire jumps into the air and slashes the enemy diagonal to the right with one javelin and diagonal to the left with another, followed with a final 'X-cut' with both javelin. SST -Both javelins are swung upwards to form a 'V' shape SSST -Both javelins are swung downwards to form an upside-down 'V' SSSTT -Both javelins are swung diagonally, one upwards to the left and the other upwards to the right, making an 'X' shape, several times SSSTTT -Sumire swings both javelins in multiple, symmetrical curves which come to form a butterfly. The javelins meet in the center of the shape, where she then cuts outwards horizontally with both at the same time, sending out a blade of energy XS A simple jump and slash with the right javelin XT Sumire jumps and throws both blades straight down. She lands with a somersault as the blades retract back into her sleeves. c.Mounted Attacks SSSS(+SSSS) A series of rapid slashes. ST Sumire swings a blade upwards, launching the enemy into the air. SST Like other ninjas, Sumire will throw a smoke bomb. This stuns the enemy SSST Sumire launches both blades out to either side of her body d.Musou lvl 1 Musou: A typical musou, with repeated left-to-right slashes followed by a shockwave that knocks away surrounding enemies. However she throws her blades out one after another, so the range is very wide. lvl 2 Musou: Exactly like her lvl 1 musou but deals more damage and finishes with a bigger shockwave. lvl 3 Musou: Like the other ninjas, Sumire creates 3 shadow clones of herself that perform her musou with her and thus increase damage and range. The level 3 musou is enhanced also by the element of fire. True/Combo Musou: Like her level 1/2/3 musou, but enhanced with the element of lightning. Also before the final shockwave, she performs the first seven moves of her normal attack string. Horse Musou: Shura-elemented beams of energy shoot up from the ground (See Nene's horse musou for something similar) e.R1 Specials R1 + S (x3) -A quick dash which leaves behind an "after-image" that can be used as a decoy. She can have up to three decoys at once. This does not inflict damage R1 + T (x3) -Temporary invisiblity/invinsibilty and an attack bonus. Hitting Triangle once, it will last 10 seconds; twice, 20; three times will last 30 Effectiveness: At first glance Sumire doesn't seem to be the character one would want to play first. Her greatest weakness is her lack of attack but in turn her attacks are very swift and her charge and normal strings are hard to break because of it. Her initial attack isn't anything amazing, but she still deals decent damage over time compared to other characters with slower movesets. Her greatest strengths lie in her speed and crowd control abilities. Because of her attack range she can easily take out many peons and boost your KO count. While one-on-one isn't her favourite kind of combat, she can hold her own against an enemy officer if played properly. __________ | Dialogue | __________ General- Selected: "Much obliged~" Before Battle: "Black Butterfly lives to serve..." She was born to her parents as "Yichio". She actually kept this name up until a certain point in time in which her family was forced to join the Oda army. Her first years were spent in a small village at the foot of Mt. Usayama, near Omi province. Here she was cared for by her mother and her mother's friend, Saito Nana (who at that time was called "Misaki" to avoid drawing attention). Not long after her first birthday, her father had returned from battle and she and her mother were taken to Tosa, on the island of Shikoku. It is here that she grew up for most of her life. Sumire's life as a child is not particularly significant, apart from the time spent with the Chosokabe's heir, Nobuchika. Sometime around 1579, the head of the Chosokabe, Motochika, entered into an alliance with the notorious Oda Nobunaga. As part of this agreement to hold this alliance, the Oda took the Yoshida up as officers. This is the event that triggers Sumire's change in personality. Sumire found herself looked after some of the time by one of Nobunaga's top retainers, Mori Yoshinari. She became fond of the man and she eventually grew up to be his bodyguard. She discarded her birthname and took up the name "Sumire". The name itself means "violet", and Sumire's logic behind choosing such a name is unknown. By 1570-1571, Sumires life was changed dramatically when she, for the first time, failed in her duties to protect Yoshinari, which resulted in his death at the hands of the Asai and Asakura alliance near Otsu at Usayama Castle. At this point she had sworn to avenge her lord by eliminating Yoshikage Asakura and Nagamasa Asai, and partially succeeded in doing so at the battle between the Oda/Tokugawa alliance and the Asai/Asakura alliance at Anegawa in 1570 and in 1573 during the Siege of Odani Castle. In the end, it was not her who killed either of the two - this left her bitter for some time. Just a little prior to that, in obedience to Yoshinaris will, Sumire was passed down to his son, Ranmaru Mori. But grieving over her failure to protect Yoshinari resulted in her remaining rather iffy about his son; and for a while she didnt believe he would measure up to his father, but she loyally (if not reluctantly) served Ranmaru in any case. After a while she warmed up to Ranmaru although she was in partial denial about it, seeing as she had always thought Yoshinari would be her only lord during her time in the Oda. The turmoil led her to leave, her whereabouts unknown until June of 1582 - when Mitsuhide Akechi betrayed Nobunaga Oda, ambushing him at the temple of Honnoji in Kyoto where she reappeared and took it upon herself to have a solo melee against the entire Akechi army. Upon Nobunagas death, Sumire had forcefully removed Ranmaru from the battle, refusing to lose another Mori. After this, the two parted ways. Ranmaru was, needless to say, in shock and wasn't likely to have any desire to continue with any battles. Sumire respected this and as a result, was relieved of her duties as a bodyguard. She was now unaffiliated, taking part in smaller skirmishes for whichever side paid more until she was recruited by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in his conquest to finish what Nobunaga had started. The last battle Sumire participated in and did anything notable was Hideyoshi's conquest of Kyushu, where she found herself reunited with the Chosokabe (although she kept this secret until they figured it out for themselves). She continued to serve in a select few more battles during Hideyoshi's conquest of Japan, but her story mode itself ends at Kyushu. It is assumed that after the land was unified under the Toyotomi flag, Sumire returned to Shikoku with her parents, though what exactly she is doing there is unknown to most. _________________ | Mission Overlook | _________________ 1. Village Rescue Victory: Defeat the Marauder Defeat: Sumire is defeated, all peasants are defeated, or any main camp is lost Briefing: Sumire, the eldest daughter of the Yoshida Clan of Tosa, was the prodigious bodyguard of Yoshinari Mori, a retainer of the Oda and lord of the castle atop Mt. Usa. One day, Yoshinari learned of a group of bandits raiding the small village near the foot of the mountain. Angered by this, Sumire volunteered to deal with the bandits personally. Missions: -Defend the east garrison -Protect the peasants -Take back the village -Defend the west garrison -Achieve 100KOs within one minute -Defeat Kotaro Fuma -Defeat the Marauder 2. Battle of Anegawa Victory: Defeat Nagamasa Azai and Yoshikage Asakura Defeat: Nobunaga is defeated Briefing: In 1570, Nagamasa Azai betrayed his alliance to the Oda at Anegawa, a battle Yoshinari, and thus Sumire, were participating in. Yoshinari was guarding one of the gates to the Oda main camp, and knowing Nagamasa would attempt to storm it, Sumire decided that it would be a good idea to teach Nagamasa a lesson in loyalty. Missions: -Sieze Yokoyama Castle -Take control of the Azai main camp -Defeat Yoshikage Asakura -Prevent Nagamasa Azai from entering the main camp 3.Defense of Mt. Usa Victory: Defeat Nagamasa Azai, Yoshikage Asakura, and Magoichi Saika Defeat: Sumire, Ranmaru, or Nobunaga are defeated Briefing: Upon their victory at Anegawa, Sumire and Yoshinari returned home to Mt. Usa. However, not long after, the armies of the Azai-Asakura alliance and the Kansai Allies arrived to take control of the castle. Caught off guard, the troops at Mt. Usa weren't likely to fight out this battle and win. However, Yoshinari gathered them up, along with his eldest son, Yoshitaka, and of course Sumire. Although Sumire was willing to fight, she had a bad feeling about the outcome of this battle Missions: -Recapture the cannons -Prevent Magoichi from entering the main camp -Storm the Asakura main camp -Defeat Yoshikage Asakura -Assist Ranmaru in recapturing Mt. Usa Castle -Defeat Nagamasa Azai 4.Melee At Honnoji Victory: Defeat Mitsuhide Akechi Defeat: Sumire or Ranmaru is defeated Briefing: Despite what was technically the victory at Mt. Usa, Yoshinari had been slain amongst the fighting along with the majority of his troops. Reluctantly following her lord's will, Sumire went on to serve as the bodyguard of Yoshinari's son, Ranmaru. However, due to her stubborn nature, Sumire initially refused to see him as her lord and when it appeared wars would break out, she mysteriously vanished. She later reappeared at Honnoji when Mitsuhide Akechi betrayed the Oda. With her resolve restored, she stormed into Kyoto, prepared to take Mitsuhide's head Missions: -Prevent the fire attack -Defeat Nobuharu Tsuda and Kunitsugu Yasuda and save Ranmaru -Save Nobutada Oda and protect Nijo Castle -Defeat Mitsuhide Akechi DREAM.Battle of Iyo Victory: Defeat all enemy officers Defeat: Any allied officer is defeated Briefing: September 1579, following Motochika Chosokabe's conquest of Shikoku, he launched an attack on Iyo province. Sumire had no business on the mainland of Japan at this point in time, and was hired by a Chosokabe retainer Missions: -Ensure that no allied officers are defeated -Escort the siege ramps to Okayama Castle -Defeat Doi Kiyoyoshi and sieze Okayama Castle -Save Hisatake Chikanobu -Defeat all remaining enemy officers _______________ | Miscellaneous | _______________ Sumire's name means "Violet". Her mother's name means "Bellflower" and her brother's name means "Gentian". These are all flowers. Her sister's birthname is Akihime, which means "Autumn Princess" which is a reference to her mother's name. Sumire's title "Black Butterfly" comes from the size of the bow on her kimono. Sumire is barren, meaning she cannot have children Sumire was born outside of marriage, though her parents later married. Sumire's mother started out as a peasant in the small village near the foot of Mt. Usa. This is why she was angered when it was attacked by bandits. Sumire is the oldest of three, however she is quite possibly the most physically weak. * The Battle of Iyo is part of Motochika's conquest of Shikoku, in which he goes north to run out the Kono clan. This stage is not included in the game, but it theoretically uses the Shikoku map. ---------------------------------------------------------------- 15 pages on MS Word with Times New Roman size 12 For now this is the FINALIZED version of Sumire's biography. I've posted incomplete versions before, but until further notice, this is all there is to it. I've worked DAMN HARD and setting Sumire in concrete as a character. She's by far my most complex and thought out character. Rip her or her design off in any way and I will HUNT YOU DOWN. ♥ Art/Sumire © ME ME ME ME Samurai Warriors/Sengoku Musou © Koei, OmegaForce |
